Sanur Bali Travel Guide Top Ten Must Do Activities

Sanur is known as one of the quietest and most family-friendly areas of Bali in Indonesia, but there are also many great things to do there.

Families will love the relaxed atmosphere and chill restaurants at Sanur Beach, and the sunrise views here are among the best you can find anywhere in Bali.

This sleepy beach town on Bali’s southeast coast was one of the first cradles of tourism on the island and is still popular for its beautiful hotels, shopping, breakfast, massages and easy access to the Nusa Islands.

The Best Things To Do In Sanur Bali
1. Watch The Sunrise

Sanur Beach may not be one of the best beaches in Bali, but it definitely shines (no pun intended) as one of the best sunrise spots on the island.

The combination of a cool morning breeze, birdsong, fishermen wading over the reef, Mount Agung volcano in the distance and the global sunrise indicator here is just magical. Sometimes you can even see the distant outlines of Mount Rinjani in Lombok.

The sunrise on the beach is definitely one of the best things to do in Sanur! It’s a great way to start the day.

2. Take A Walk On The Promenade

Sanur Beach has a very long coastline of about 7 kilometers and there is a paved path, so it is perfect for a morning walk, jogging or a bike ride.

It is a beautiful panoramic trail, lined with fishing boats, hotel gardens and beach restaurants, and sometimes you can enjoy the view of Mount Agung volcano in the distance.

The entire public beach is freely accessible and sun loungers or bicycles can usually be rented very inexpensively along the promenade.

For yoga lovers, there is a free yoga class every day in the morning in Pantai Karang, which starts at 7: 30 am. Everyone is welcome, so join us with a rug or towel.

Since 2023, the entire beach hiking trail has been renovated to expand it. This is good news, because the walk in the morning can be very crowded.

3. Visit The Beach

To be honest, Sanur can not compete with the most beautiful beaches of Bali, because there are quite a few algae along the coast, and the sand is not really white or special.

There are some exceptions, but most parts of the beach are just average. However, Sanur is ideal for families, and that’s why so many expats and Balinese like to come to the beach here.

The calm waves of the sea and the shallow water, protected by a reef, make it a great place for swimming for children, and in the summer months from May to August a fantastic breeze blows.

4. Go To A Balinese Festival

A number of entertaining seasonal festivals are held in the Sanur area. These can be visited for free and can be a great activity for families and anyone who wants to see the Balinese art and culture.
